How to Use:

1. Set Up Your Machine Select your coverstitch type—wide, narrow, or triple—and set the stitch length to 3.0. Attach the mounting plate to your machine using the two screws provided.
2. Attach the Hemmer Place the hemmer onto the mounting plate and slide it to the right. Secure it with the two thumb screws and washers.
3. Prepare the Hem Fold up a 1" (25 mm) hem on your fabric and finger press the first few inches in place to get it started.
4. Feed the Fabric With the fabric right side up, slide it into the hemmer from the right, allowing the fold to curl under the attachment smoothly.
5. Position the Fabric Raise the presser foot and pull the fabric under it and 1–2 inches (2–3 cm) straight behind the needle. Lower the presser foot and turn the handwheel to make a few stitches to anchor the fabric.
6. Check Stitch Placement Sew a few test stitches to check the placement. If adjustments are needed, loosen the thumb screws and move the hemmer left or right to align with your desired stitch line.

Tip: Always test on a scrap piece before sewing your final project.

Tips & Hints:

1. Use the Free Arm If your machine has a free-arm option, it can make sewing continuous or circular hems—like sleeves and pant legs—much easier to manage.
2. Adjust Stitch Length for Heavier Fabrics Increase the stitch length up to 4.0 when working with thicker fabrics or stitching over bulky seams. This helps maintain smooth, even stitching without skipping.
3. Assist at Seams When crossing a seam, gently guide the fabric to help it move smoothly through the hemmer guide. A little extra support goes a long way in keeping your stitches even and your hem looking polished.
