This authentic Merrow component is a precision-engineered "carrying" looper, designed to bring the upper thread into perfect synchronization with the needle and lower looper. In industrial sewing, the upper looper is responsible for the top half of the overedge stitch, making its geometry vital for both the structural strength and the aesthetic "purl" of the seam.
