Tackle tricky embroidery projects with ease using the Singer Tear-A-Way Sticky Stabilizer. Measuring 12" wide and 5 yards long, this adhesive-backed stabilizer features a strong tacky surface that securely holds fabrics and items in place inside the hoop, so no slipping or shifting. Protected by a removable paper layer, the adhesive stays fresh until you're ready to use it. Perfect for small items that are too delicate or awkward to hoop, Tear-A-Way Sticky is also ideal for heavier fabrics, such as canvas, denim, leather, and vinyl. It's convenient for securing unevenly shaped pieces such as hat brims, purse straps, belts, collars, cuffs, or pant legs, giving you the freedom to embroider on areas that would otherwise be impossible. With this stabilizer, you'll enjoy clean, professional embroidery results on even your most challenging projects.

Important: Always remove Tear-A-Way Sticky stabilizer immediately after embroidery. Do not iron or apply heat while the fabric is attached to this stabilizer.

How to Use for Hoopless Embroidery:

  1. Cut the Stabilizer Cut a piece of stabilizer at least 1" larger than your embroidery hoop. Place the stabilizer on a flat surface with the paper-covered adhesive side facing up. Using a needle or pin, gently score an “X” from corner to corner through the paper layer only. Be careful not to cut into the adhesive. Peel back the paper to expose the sticky surface.
  2. Hoop the Fabric and Stabilizer Together Position the back of the outer hoop ring on the exposed adhesive area (the inner hoop ring is not needed for this method). Place the wrong side of your fabric onto the adhesive surface in the area you wish to embroider. Adjust as needed—fabric can be repositioned with only a slight loss of tack.
  3. Stitch the Embroidery Stitch your embroidery design as usual.
  4. Remove Excess Stabilizer After stitching, remove the hoop and peel away the excess stabilizer from the wrong side of the fabric up to the stitched edges. Trim close to the stitches with scissors.

How to Use for Hoop Embroidery:

  1. Cut the Stabilizer Cut a piece of stabilizer at least 2" larger than your embroidery hoop. Peel back the paper covering to expose the adhesive surface. Place the stabilizer centered on top of the outer hoop, adhesive side facing up.
  2. Hoop the Fabric and Stabilizer Together Position the wrong side of your fabric onto the tacky surface, then place the inner hoop ring on top of the fabric and tighten securely.
  3. Stitch the Embroidery Stitch your embroidery design as usual.
  4. Remove Excess Stabilizer When finished, remove the project from the hoop and peel away the excess stabilizer from the wrong side of the fabric, tearing close to the stitches.
